Write your first newsletter
From a blank page to a finished letter — the basics of the editor.
Your first letter doesn’t need to be long. A few lines about what you’ve been up to is plenty — the people you’re writing to just want to hear from you.
Start a new letter
From your posts list, choose New post and give it a title. If you’d rather see a finished example first, use Start with an example letter — it drops in a sample you can edit or delete, so you can see how everything fits together.
Write in the editor
Type into the page like any document. The toolbar along the top handles the formatting:
- Headings to break the letter into sections
- Bold and italic for emphasis
- Bullet and numbered lists
- Quotes for something you want to stand out
Your work saves automatically as a draft while you write — there’s no separate save button.
Add more than words
You can drop in photos, and link the books, films, shows, music, and GIFs you’ve been enjoying. See the features guide for the full list.
When you’re ready
Nothing goes out until you send it. When the letter’s ready, head to Publishing to preview it and choose when it sends.
